Vase of Flowers (Pink Background)

A loose bouquet of poppies, cornflowers, daisies and grasses in a white ceramic vase, set against a pale pink ground. Reds, blues, whites and yellows are scattered through the arrangement, with fine stems reaching upward and out to the edges.

The background is left almost flat, so the flowers float in a warm, weightless space. The paint is thin and matte, closer to pastel than to oil in feel, and the vase is only lightly modelled.
